Music and Memory Program

Throughout life, sound positively and negatively affects our physical and emotional well-being. It affects the bodily functions that we think are beyond our control. These include heart rate, blood pressure and release of the body’s natural painkilling chemicals. Even when people are no longer conscious or speaking, we can console and comfort them with music.
The use of music enhances our lives as a means of teaching, celebrating and expressing ourselves and has been in place for thousands of years.

How the Music and Memory program works:
To improve the quality of life of those we serve through the gift of music. Donated music will contribute to our music library so that patients can select meaningful songs. Shuffles will be restored to their factory settings and reused. Any donated iTunes gift cards will allow us to purchase specific songs that patients request that we have not obtained in our music library. Music and Memory is a free complimentary service provided to our Connections+ and Hospice program. |
